Invite Friends
Share a Runner referral link without granting access to your workspace.
Invite Friends creates a personal referral link that you can copy or share. It is separate from inviting a teammate to a workspace.
What this covers
You will share the correct referral link, understand what the recipient sees, and avoid confusing a referral with workspace access.
Availability and prerequisites
- You must be signed in to a workspace.
- Wait for Runner to generate the referral link before selecting a share action.
- Referral eligibility and any reward are governed by the terms shown in the panel at the time you share. Do not rely on an older amount or screenshot.
- A referral link does not add its recipient to your workspace, stores, or projects.
Entry path
Open a workspace and select Invite Friends in the workspace sidebar. Runner opens a desktop panel or a mobile bottom drawer with your referral link and the currently available terms.
Share controls
| Control | What happens after you select it |
|---|---|
| Copy | Copies the referral link to the clipboard. The label changes to Copied briefly, then returns to Copy. |
| X | Opens X's sharing flow with the referral link prepared. |
| Opens Facebook's sharing flow with the referral link prepared. | |
| Opens LinkedIn's sharing flow with the referral link prepared. | |
| Close | Closes the panel without changing or invalidating the referral link. |
Social buttons open the provider's share window or tab. Review the audience and message there before posting; opening a share flow does not publish by itself.
Share a referral
- Open Invite Friends.
- Read the current eligibility and reward terms.
- Wait until the referral link and share buttons are ready.
- Select Copy to send the link privately, or choose a social provider.
- If you copied it, paste the entire link into the intended message and check that its invite code remains present.
- Tell the recipient that the link is for signing up to Runner, not for joining your existing workspace.
When a recipient opens the link, Runner records the referral context and sends them to sign in or create an account. The referral context is preserved through that login step. Any resulting eligibility or credit still follows the terms shown by Runner; simply opening the link does not guarantee a reward.
Invite a teammate instead
To give someone access to the current workspace, select the workspace name → Settings → Members → Invite people. A member invitation has its own pending, cancel, and acceptance states. Do not substitute a referral link for that access flow.
Troubleshooting
| State | Meaning and next step |
|---|---|
| Share actions are unavailable | Runner is still generating the link. Wait for it to finish. |
| Copied | The link is on the clipboard. Paste it once and verify the complete URL. |
| Social window does not open | The browser may have blocked a pop-up. Allow the share window for Runner or use Copy instead. |
| Link does not load | Reopen Invite Friends and copy the current link. If it still fails, include the visible error in a support report. |
| Recipient reaches sign-in | This is expected. Runner keeps the referral context while the recipient signs in or creates an account. |
