Inbox and Notifications

Read Runner updates, understand unread behavior, and follow each notification's available action.

What this covers: You will find unread updates and know what can happen when you select a notification.

The Inbox combines notifications across the workspaces you can access. It is different from optional browser notifications that announce when a Runner task finishes.

Entry path: Workspace sidebar footer → bell icon.

On desktop, the bell opens a panel beside the workspace. On mobile, it opens a bottom drawer. A blue dot on the bell indicates that unread notifications exist.

Before you start

  • Confirm the workspace and affected project before following a notification.
  • Save any unsent draft because a notification can navigate to another page or project.
  • Avoid browser task notifications on a shared screen when their text may reveal work details.

Inbox controls

Control or stateWhat happens
AllShows every available notification category.
SubscriptionFilters to plan and billing-related updates.
ReleaseFilters to product-release updates.
EventFilters to event notifications.
Notification rowPerforms the action assigned to that notification, if it has one.
Close Inbox or change tabsMarks notifications that were sufficiently visible as read. It does not mark every item at once.
Scroll to the bottomLoads more notifications when more are available.

The Inbox has no Mark all as read control and no separate retry screen for a failed request.

Read notifications

  1. Select the bell icon.
  2. Start with All, or choose a category.
  3. Read the title, message, relative time, and unread dot.
  4. Scroll when you want to load older items.
  5. Select a row only after reading what action it represents.
  6. Close Inbox or switch tabs when finished; visible unread items are then marked as read.

What a notification click can do

Click behavior depends on the notification:

  • Open a related page inside Runner.
  • Open an external item, such as an invoice, in a new browser tab.
  • Copy a build or pre-check error so you can paste it into a support request or Runner chat.
  • Open a billing-management path for a payment issue.
  • Do nothing when the notification is informational and has no action.

Read the notification before selecting it. A row does not have one universal destination.

Empty and loading states

StateMeaningWhat to do
Loading placeholdersRunner is retrieving notifications.Keep Inbox open until the list settles.
No notifications yetThe selected category has no items.Return later or try All.
We'll let you know when something happens. There is no current update to act on.Close Inbox and continue working.
Loading moreOlder items are being retrieved after scrolling.Wait before scrolling again.

Browser task-completion notifications

Some desktop browsers show a separate card in the expanded Agent sidebar:

  1. Choose Turn on to let the browser request notification permission.
  2. Allow permission only if you want system notifications for completed tasks.
  3. Choose Not now to postpone the prompt.
  4. Selecting a system notification focuses Runner and returns to the related conversation.

This feature depends on desktop browser support. Do not expect the same behavior on mobile or in every installed-app setup. Workspace workflow-completion and store-ready messages can also appear as temporary on-screen notices; Preview storefront on a store-ready notice opens its preview.
