Connect Shopify

Authorize a Shopify store by domain and understand Runner's disconnect behavior.

Connect Shopify when your storefront or Runner workflow needs access to an existing Shopify store. Runner starts authorization from the store's myshopify.com domain and Shopify asks you to install and authorize the Runner app.

Before you start

Entry path: Project → Apps → Store Apps → Shopify

You can also choose Connect Shopify when creating a store from the workspace. This guide focuses on the connection card under Apps.

You need:

  • Shopify integration availability in the workspace;
  • a Shopify store domain in the form your-store.myshopify.com;
  • permission to install and authorize the Runner app in that Shopify store; and
  • authority to connect the store to the Runner workspace.

A workspace that already has a connected Shopify store can require you to disconnect it before connecting another one.

Connect Shopify

  1. Open Project → Apps and find Shopify.
  2. Select Connect.
  3. Enter the store's exact myshopify.com domain in Shop domain.
  4. Correct any invalid-domain message before continuing.
  5. Select Continue to Shopify.
  6. On Shopify, verify the store name and requested access before authorizing the Runner app.
  7. Return to Runner and confirm the Shopify card shows its connected disconnect control.
  8. Verify the intended store data and checkout path before making live changes.

Disconnect or change stores

Select the disconnect control and read Disconnect Shopify?. Confirming removes the Shopify storefront token from all projects in the workspace. It does not delete the Shopify store or existing Shopify orders.

To connect a different Shopify store, disconnect the existing workspace connection first, confirm the card is no longer connected, then repeat setup with the other store's domain.

If Shopify does not connect

  • Use the permanent myshopify.com domain, not a custom storefront domain.
  • If Runner says the workspace already has a connected store, review that connection before removing it.
  • If Shopify rejects authorization, start again from the Shopify card.
  • If the returned store does not match the domain you entered, stop and verify which Shopify account and store are open.
  • If the connection link expired, start over from Connect rather than reusing the old provider page.
  • If Runner reports that required access is missing, review the app permissions in Shopify.
  • If disconnecting fails, assume the existing connection is still active.
