Connect, manage, and reconnect an app

Understand Runner's app connection states and safely repair or remove a connection.

Use this guide to take one app through its connection lifecycle: start the connection, confirm its real state, repair authorization when needed, and disconnect it safely.

Before you start

Use it when:

an app says Connect, Connecting..., Reconnect, or Pending review;
you need to check whether a previous provider flow really finished;
an Agent App needs different tool access; or
you intend to remove a connection and need to understand the warning first.

You need access to the project and any account, credentials, or approval requested by the external provider. Some apps are conditional and may not appear in every workspace.

Read the card before acting

Card state or control	Meaning	What to do
Loading indicator	Runner is checking the saved connection.	Wait before selecting another action.
Connect	Runner has no usable connection for this app.	Open the setup dialog or provider authorization flow.
Connecting...	A connection request is in progress.	Finish the provider flow or wait for Runner to return a result.
Connected	Runner recognizes a usable connection.	Use its management or disconnect control if you need a change.
Manage	The connected Agent App has configurable tools.	Open the app details and review tool access.
Reconnect	Authorization is missing, expired, or otherwise needs attention.	Start authorization again. Do not assume the old connection still works.
Pending review	Stripe has the account but has not made it ready.	Follow the status or action notice; the label is not a Connect button.
Continue Onboarding	Stripe still needs information.	Continue the existing setup instead of creating another account.
Delete or Disconnect	A connection can be removed.	Read and confirm the provider-specific impact.

Complete the lifecycle

Open Apps and find the app.
Select Connect.
Supply only the fields shown in the dialog. Depending on the app, this can be a shop domain, an API key, a key and secret, provider credentials, or external authorization.
Complete the provider step, then return to Apps.
Confirm that the card now shows a connected badge or the provider's connected controls. A closed dialog or provider window is not proof of success.
If the card shows Reconnect or Continue Onboarding, select that action and continue the existing connection.
To remove the app, select its disconnect control, read the confirmation, and choose Disconnect or Confirm only when the stated workspace-wide impact is acceptable.
Re-open Apps and confirm the card returned to its disconnected state.

Store Apps and Agent Apps differ

Store Apps use provider-specific controls:

Email uses an on/off switch.
Stripe can show onboarding, review, action-required, dashboard, and disconnect controls.
Shippo, CJ Dropshipping, 4PX, and Shopify ask for provider-specific setup data and show a destructive disconnect confirmation.

Connection safety

Treat provider keys and secrets like passwords.
Read whether a connection belongs to the workspace or only the current project.
A provider window completing does not guarantee Runner has received a usable result.
Do not disconnect a shipping, payment, email, or fulfillment provider during active store operations without checking the warning and your current orders.
If a disconnect fails, Runner keeps the current state. Do not assume the provider was removed.
