DocumentationAgent customization
Skills
Add, pause, inspect, and discover reusable capabilities for your Runner agent.
Skills give Runner a repeatable set of instructions for a type of work. They are useful when you want a reliable process to be available across future conversations instead of rewriting the same prompt each time.
What this covers
You will be able to add a Skill, tell whether it is active, pause it, and understand which actions are available for System and Custom Skills.
Availability and prerequisites
- Open a store project where you have permission to manage Agent capabilities.
- Skill use is plan-gated. Runner shows an upgrade path when the current plan does not include it.
- Some System Skills cannot be paused, edited, or deleted.
Entry path
Open Control Center → Agent → Skills.
Skill sections and controls
| Entry or button | Why it is useful | What happens next |
|---|---|---|
| Recommended for you | Quickly review a small set of trending Skills. | Selecting Add starts installation. |
| Added | See which Skills are active. | Each row shows the Skill name, description, type, and available actions. |
| Paused | Find Skills that are currently off. | Selecting Add reactivates a configurable Skill. |
| Discover | Browse or search additional Skills. | A Skill name can open its source in a new tab; Add installs it into your workspace. |
| Skill row | Read the Skill details. | A Custom Skill opens in edit mode. A System Skill opens in view mode. |
| Added button | Pause an active configurable Skill. | The Skill moves to Paused after the update succeeds. |
| Add button | Install or reactivate a Skill. | The button shows progress, then the Skill appears under Added. |
| More actions | Find edit, view, or delete actions. | Available actions depend on whether the Skill is System or Custom. |
Add a discovered Skill
- Open Control Center → Agent → Skills.
- Search for the task or format you need.
- Review the Skill name, source, and description.
- Select Add.
- Wait for the progress state to finish.
- Confirm that the Skill appears under Added before relying on it in chat.
Pause or reactivate a Skill
- Find the Skill under Added.
- Select its Added button.
- Confirm that it moves to Paused.
- To reactivate it, select Add in the Paused section.
Pausing is reversible. It stops the Skill from being active without deleting its definition.
System and Custom Skills
| Skill type | Typical actions | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| System | View details; pause only when the Skill allows it | Fixed System Skills do not offer delete and may not offer pause. |
| Custom | Edit, pause, reactivate, or delete | Delete requires confirmation and removes the Skill rather than merely pausing it. |
States and limits
- Adding… means installation is still running. Wait for Added.
- Search results can come from the public Skills directory as well as Skills already in your workspace.
- A plan gate blocks activation; it does not remove existing Skill definitions.
- Imported content can omit files that exceed accepted limits. Review any warning before saving.
- No skills.sh results for this search means no compatible discovery result was returned; it does not affect added Skills.
Troubleshooting
- If Add does not complete, retry once after checking the displayed error. Avoid clicking repeatedly while the button is busy.
- If a Skill cannot be paused, it is likely a fixed System Skill. Open its details to confirm.
- If the expected Skill is absent, clear search and check both Added and Paused.
- If a newly added Skill is not available in one project, check Settings → Store → Agent for that project's Skill selection.
